In the lead up to Tuesday’s Champions League game at Anfield everyone knew there was a gulf between the Men's sides. At the time that wasn’t the case with regards to the respective Under 19 Academy teams, but after the Champions Youth League clash at The Liverpool Academy on Tuesday afternoon it was apparent the gulf was similar. This was a big step up from playing part time journeymen in the Lowland League and at the end of the ninety minutes Rangers would have been relieved to get away with a defeat by a three goal margin, as Liverpool could and probably should have scored a few more.
Rangers fans have never been the biggest fans of the international break. Since the nightmare days of 2012 many supporters feel disconnected from the Scotland team for a variety of reasons - not least the SFA's ongoing treatment of the club and our own players being jeered by the tartan army. As such, whenever these extended breaks come up, you won't find may excited bears.
Rangers Under 19’s recorded the club’s first ever Champions Youth League Group Stage win with a comfortable victory over Napoli at Firhill this afternoon. The scoreline flattered the visitors a bit with a dominant first half from Rangers which saw them go in at half time two goals up. The Italians improved a bit after the break but Rangers thoroughly deserved their win over the ninety minutes.
